Unforgiven

1992:

  • February: George H W Bush and Boris Yeltsin meet at Camp David, where they formally declare that the Cold War is over
  • June: Two skeletons excavated in Yekaterinburg in Russia are identified as Tsar Nicholas II and Tsarina Alexandra
  • November: The Queen calls 1992 her annus horribilis following a fire at Windsor Castle and various scandals that damaged the image of the Royal Family

Trivia:

Unforgiven was only the third western to win best picture.

Will:

I really don’t like westerns, and Unforgiven was certainly no exception. I found it interminably dull from beginning to end, and just didn’t care what happened, as long as it was over and done with soon.

Rating: 2/10

Mark:

A slow film that too often plodded along. Clint Eastwood manages to put in a very wooden leading performance, and the beginning and ending text is particular odd and sets a somewhat strange tone. There were some strong moments, not least Gene Hackman’s and Richard Harris’s performances, but Unforgiven is just too predictable to really entertain.
